Manhattan > Upper East Side > 306 East 82nd Street

306 E 82 ST

Those of you living in the neighborhood might remember the modest one story townhouse nested in this quiet tree lined street in the Upper East Side. Well, after years of construction, the tagged wood panels which blocked out the entry way have finally been removed and we can get a peak inside this beautiful new condo unit.

The constructor has smartly put up a new brick façade, a trademark of the block, but added a modern twist to it. The windows have been widened, which adds extra light to the units and the terraces are a great excuse to enjoy a chilled beverage while overlooking the surrounding foliage. The first floor unit benefits from great south facing outdoor space. The finishings are sleek, modern and timeless without ostentation - making this small building a contrasting gem within the forest of massive concrete towers nearby.

Living with my family on this street, I keep telling my kids it is one of the best streets in the city: going west will lead you to the Metropolitan Museum and Central Park while to the east is Carl Schultz Park, complete with its busy playground, quiet British gardens and sporty riverside promenade. The public school just across the street from 306 East 82nd is one of the best in town. How can I be so assertive? My eldest son went to kindergarten there and we all loved it. The restaurant Wasabi Lobby has the best sushi in the neighborhood and the Carriage House on the other side of Second Avenue is a romantic hidden townhouse which serves delicious French cuisine and the most authentic British high teas in delicate porcelain cups.

The units will be on the market shortly, so make sure to check them out. They are an absolute must see and, as I did, you’ll be sure to fall in love with the neighborhood too.
