Manhattan > Upper East Side > 170 East 80th Street

170 East 80th Street began as a legendary studio where Jackie O. would come in search of one-of-a-kind hand-printed fabrics for her many homes.
Today, however, the townhouse is undergoing a massive renovation, but rest easy, the spectacular façade is wisely been preserved. Between my love for real estate, old stones and history-rich places (I am not Parisian for nothing), I couldn’t help but peek inside. The first two floors are zoned for commercial or office space, while the two top are residential.
The new owner could potentially keep the zoning as is or turn this beautiful townhome into a one to three family unit. Either way, the residences are bound to be phenomenal since the building itself if one of the best in an already richly historical and elegant neighborhood. (Landmarks include Madonna’s new residence at 152 East 81st Street)
Conveniently located near Lexington Avenue and its subway stations, the Carriage House is truly elegant, with a touch of “je ne sais quoi” which makes it utterly spectacular. Is it the lime stone facade with the arched window cornices or the contrasting arched black stone entry? One will never know, but we can bet that the marriage between the pre-war structure and the sleek modern interiors won’t be anything less than stunning.
